Option for Custom Domain Names
Shopify is an entirely self-contained and self-hosted system, and while you can take advantage of a Shopify domain name even also add a layer of professionalism by registering your own domain name and having it point to the Shopify store that you have established.

Some of the drawbacks of the Shopify platform
Though Shopify is really a great e-commerce platform, there are still some things about Shopify that I find unappealing such as the ones I listed below:
Monthly Recurring Fee
Compared to AliDropship, Shopify doesn’t have a lot of drawbacks or downsides – but one of the most significant issues you were going to bump up against if you choose to go with Shopify is the monthly recurring fee you’re going to have to pay to take advantage of all the e-commerce and drop shipping tools they provide.
Their Basic plan starts at $29.00 per month, but if you want to have access to more features, then prepare to shell out $299.00 a month for their Advanced plan.
This fee isn’t unmanageable, but when you stack it up against the one time only cost of AliDropship it can get to be a little bit annoying to have to spend money every month on an e-commerce platform.
Most of the Shopify Apps for Dropshipping are not Free
At the same time, a lot of the Shopify apps specifically designed to be used with for drop shipping like Oberlo, in particular, aren’t going to be 100% free and available to use right out of the gate. Some of the best apps can set you back a decent chunk of change, and if you want to really extend your Shopify set up it can get pretty pricey.
You Could Get Rejected for Dropshipping
You also might have to worry about your dropshipping business getting rejected by the Shopify platform entire if you are selling the “wrong” kind of merchandise or seen as a risky endeavor. Shopify, above all else, wants to protect Shopify.

Shopify is probably best for those that don’t want any headache or hassle when it comes to the technical side of things, though it is going to cost a bit more, in the long run, to own and operate a dropshipping business on Shopify.
If flexibility, freedom, and expense are prominent on the list of your concerns, you’re going to want to get set up with AliDropship probably. It has a lot of the same advantages as Shopify with a much smaller price tag – and their customer support team can also handle all of the technical stuff for you if you want (for a nominal fee).
AliDropship vs Shopify: And the Winner Is…
What it all boils down to I guess is what you are hoping to do as an online business owner and entrepreneur.
For my money, AliDropship is perfect for what I’m trying to do. It’s helped me build a practical store, a store with plenty of flexibility, and a dropshipping business that gives me all of the freedom and potential for profit that I am after.
So yes, in my case AliDropship is the right tool for me.

Nice comparison between the 2. I have used them both also and share the same sentiments, I first tried shopify, but due to the cost, I changed platform to alidropship. I actually like shopify, its just that if your store is not earning that well, it won’t be good for the business. alidropship on the other hand might have a slight learning curve but for the cost, It’s still worth to try and besides, its still relatively easy to setup because you can get help from their support

I think both the platform is equally good but what matters is your marketing approach towards your products. If you are making money paying something to the service provider is not a bad idea and believe me, the amount you will be paying will be tiny in front of what you are making. I’ve been reading quite a while now about dropshipping and I think I’m ready now to leave the shore and start my own store. regarding dropshipping, I’m really not that successful, just have a few sales here and there, but what I can really share is to prepare your inventory. If you’re going to open a dropshipping store now, make sure you have enough inventory especially if you’re getting your inventory in aliexpress because the Chinese New Year is just around the corner and most if not all of the aliexpress vendors are on holiday during that period

I have used both alidropship and shopify,I must say I love shopify depsite their limitation on payment gateways that requires alot of docuemnsts moreso if you not a US citizen,on the other hand wordpress alidropship has its own chalenges too,but would still go for shopify.Great article buddy.

Hi, i like to read your sharing, after reading your articles. i have confused for the payment gateway, im now setting up an alidropship webstore but i face challenges in setting payment gateway. Setting up paypal is easy but i try to set up another credit card payment gateway but Stripe rejected me due to the high risk in dropshipping business ( only US citizen is easy to apply) im now trying to approach 2checkout to apply also. I m thinking to try shopify but one of the above comment also mentioned setting up shopify payment gateway (stripe) is not easy too. I thought if we sign with shopify wouldnot face in setting up payment gateway issue. please help
I’m afraid I can’t help you with that since I’m using only paypal now for my payment gateway. When I used shopify before, I was able to use the shopify payments (Stripe) but later on, it required me to verify my account (need to provide ETN, etc) so to avoid the hassle since I’m not in US, I just disabled it

it still depends on your budget. If you just want to try out dropshipping minus the monthly fees, I prefer you try Alidropship. it has more learning curve than shopify but once you got the hang of it, its just the same.

Shopify is amazing platform but if you not making any sells or little sells that 30 dollars fee will eat your startup money in no time, And WordPress is not that difficult to get in, editing with WordPress is like if you were doing an essay in Microsoft Word is really simple. I just wanted to leave a quick post about my experience with AliDrophip.
This morning I was looking over my store and feeling kinda bummed out and I posted something about my frustrations on AliDropships website and how I was not making any sales and felt as though I was not receiving the help I should have been. (I should mention my store has only been opened 6 days) Well, I just wanted everyone to know after I posted my post I received a message about 20 min later from Yaros the CEO of AliDropship regarding my bad experience. In my books that is someone who cares about customer satisfaction. Not only did we work through my issue (which turned out to be a lack of information on my side) but he also set me up with a few extra perks to help my store. Before buying my store I read so many positive reviews and very few negative ones (Honestly I was a bit skeptical) I now know why there were so few negative reviews? For the CEO of any company to contact their customers directly is unheard of and to me, this shows how important their customers are. I just wanted everyone who is considering buying or already owns a store that AliDropship is the best decision you will ever make to dropship. They are a 5 Star+ company and I’m very happy I chose them over Shopify. I did try out Shopify and there customer service is ok but nothing compared to AliDropship, this is the 3rd issue I’ve had with AliDropship and all issues where resolved within 20min.to a couple of hours.
