This is a trick I tested and used in 2016 that worked and gave me actual results and made two of my Facebook fanpage posts go viral and reach more than 10 million people each!
Overview
Just to give you a brief overview of my result, below you’ll see the engagement metrics on my 2 fanpage posts that went viral.
Here is the first one
In this campaign, I was able to reach more than 11.2 million people organically, and got one million plus engagements (likes, shares, comments)
You also notice that I got 1.4K link clicks, and those were actually clicks going to whatever I am promoting that time
Now, below is the second one
Just like my first campaign, this one has also gone viral, though I reached less people compared to my first campaign (10.5 million), I was able to get more engagements (1.27 million likes, shares, and comments), and aside from that, I got 2.3k link clicks for free.
Will This Work on Any Niche?
I believe this will work on any niche, as long as long as you are able to target the right audience with the right content. And in this technique, I will show you how to do it properly
The results I got are really impressive and I was overwhelmed by this experience because I really didn’t know that I can actually pull this off but I did! And the best thing about this method is its totally free and you don’t need to pay Facebook to do promotions in order to accomplish such massive reach!
I just have to remind you that this might require a little bit of effort on your part as you have to invest some of your time to do this trick.
Did It Make Any Money?
When I did this, my goal was really not to earn money as I only want to create a custom audience based on people who engaged with my page, so I will be able to target them in the future, but while I was doing this, I got curious if I can really earn money with this method so I tried to put an affiliate link of a certain Clickbank product on the description of my post, and guess what, I was able to earn more than $100 in affiliate sales!
So are you itchy now to learn this method!
Then let’s start!
Requirements
To start with this method, you will be needing the following
- Facebook Fan Page
- Engaging content (image or video)
- Join Several Facebook Groups
That’s actually all you need for this method, and below you’ll find the details on how to properly setup everything
Facebook Fan Page
This is where you’ll going to post your contents. I will not be giving you details on how to create a Facebook Fan Page, if you don’t know how to create one, just google it or search some tutorials on Youtube.
Make sure your Fan Page looks real. Exert some effort to provide a profile pic and Facebook Page cover to make it a little professional looking and make sure it’s related to your niche. Also put something on the about page and if you have a website, include it in your Fan Page.
Initially, just put some pics or videos related to your niche on your Fan page. You can also share some content (pics and videos) from other fan pages related to your niche and put it on your own fan page’s timeline. This way, you’ll be able to generate some decent content for your page.
There is no strict number of posts that you can put on your page, but I recommend to post around 10 – 15 content to make it a little legit before you start with the actual method.
Also, don’t post too much content on your fan page in a short span of time as you might get flagged by Facebook for unusual activities/spamming. 2 – 3 posts that is evenly spread throughout the day for the next 4-5 days will suffice
Once you’ve done all this, your Fan Page is now ready
The “Engaging Content”
This is actually where you would need to spend much of your time as you need to research a bit to find and create one. This content is different from the contents that I’ve said earlier because this is the one that we’re going to make viral.
When I did my campaigns, I actually researched manually looking for my “Engaging Content”, and it took me several days to find a decent one that I can duplicate/improve. However, there is a software now that I’m using and you can use it too to help you with this task and it’s called Viral Autobots.
What Viral Autobots does is it can find viral contents for you. I really like this software because it can significantly cut the time it takes to research for contents that are proven to go viral. I actually made a product review of Viral Autobots that you can read by clicking this link.
Once you already have the “Engaging Content”, the next thing to do is to modify or improve it. Do not use the content you found as you might encounter copyright issues if you use it directly.
Modifying means if it’s a picture and has a quote in it, what you need to do is to reword it, and use a different background. Just make something similar and make it more appealing if possible.
Also, in your “improved” content, make sure to include an engaging phrase like the following:
- Comment and Share
- Like and Share
- Type “Yes” and Share
- Yes or No? Comment Below and Share
Preferably, include it in the lower part of the image, and make sure the word “SHARE” is there
Once your “Engaging Content” is made, the next thing to do is to post it on your Fan Page, then on the description, add some engaging phrases like the following:
- Do you agree?
- How did you find this?
- I like this…how about you?
- What do you think?
- Which one you like?
Just a note on this, DON’T put any link on your description when you post the content on you page. Putting a link will make it like some sort of promotion which might turn off people and decrease it’s chance to become viral.
Joining Facebook Groups
Now this is the task that’s a bit repetitive and boring as well, but you’ll be fine once you get the hang of it.
The trick here is to find several Facebook groups in your niche with a huge following then join it. You can use the Discover Groups in Facebook to find one.
Another thing to keep in mind is to look for “Open Groups” so that people can share your content directly from that group. Closed group has no share button so it would be difficult to make your content go viral but you can still join closed groups if you want for added reach.
Some groups will approve you, some will not, but the trick is to find as many groups as possible and join them. The more groups you join, the better. Just don’t join so many Facebook groups at once as you might get flagged by Facebook for unusual activities. I recommend joining only 2-3 groups a day to keep you under FB’s radar
If you’re comfortable in using your actual Facebook account, then by all means use it. But if not, then I suggest you create a new Facebook account which you’re going to use for this purpose.
Once you’re inside the group, read the rules and DON’T immediately promote your “Engaging Content” as you might get flagged by the admin then ban you. What I suggest is you follow what I did so that you’ll not look spammy
Posting Guide
- After being approved (Day 0): Post a thank you image and in the description, thank the admin for allowing you to join their group
- Day 1 -4: Post an image related to your group, participate in discussions, like, share, and comment on other member’s posts
- Day 5: Post your “Engaging Content” (see here on how to post it to the group correctly)
- Day 6 -9: Post an image related to your group, participate in discussions, like, share, and comment on other member’s posts
- Day 10: Post another “Engaging Content”
Then rinse and repeat
Some groups also require the admin to manually approve your post, and some, you’ll be lucky because posting is auto approved.
Posting your “Engaging Content” on the FB Groups
For posting your “Engaging Content” on FB groups, what you will actually do is to share the content on your Facebook Fan Page to the FB group.
To do this, you need to get the URL of your “Engaging Content” that you’ve posted before on your fan page then copy and paste it to the Facebook groups that you joined.
To determine the URL of your FB post, click on the timestamp your post
Once you clicked the timestamp, you will be able to see the actual URL of that content on the browser address bar.
Copy and paste it to the FB group and wait for a few seconds until the preview has completely loaded
Once the preview has loaded, delete the URL then add an engaging description in the description field
And that’s it! Just hit the Publish/Post button then repeat this method to all the FB groups that you have joined and make sure to follow my group posting guide so you’ll keep your account under the FB radar.
Once you’ve done these, all you need to do next is to wait and monitor the progress of your post. In case your post didn’t go viral, just research another content and repeat the steps again until you hit the gold.
Some Things to Keep In Mind
Below are some things that I have observed with this method
- Once your post gets shared more than 1000 times, it has the tendency to explode and go viral all the way, so make sure to monitor how many times your post has been shared already
- Do not put any link at the post description at the start. You can only put a link once your post has really gone viral, and in my experience, you should try to reach around 100k people first before you add any link at the post description
- Once your post has gone viral, do not put spammy links on your post description. My Facebook Fan Page got unpublished because of this and that is the last thing that you would want to happen. I do suggest you put a link to your article in your website that is related to your “Engaging Content”, and only in that article you can promote your affiliate link
- In my opinion, it is better to not associate your real FB account to the Facebook page that you’re promoting so it will look like you have just found an interesting content from a random Facebook page and you just like to share it to the group.
Monetizing Your Post
Once your post has gone viral, there are lots of ways that you can earn money with it. You can put link on the description to your products (if you have any) that is related to your post, but do not put any direct affiliate link or other spammy looking links as it might get flagged by Facebook for shady activities.
If your niche is about the Labrador dog breed, create a list type article about your niche, something like “10 Amazing Things That You Don’t Know About Labradors” or something like that, then on the description, you can put something like below:
“This is a nice read about Labs..#8 is GOLDEN!”
Make sure to add something like “#8 is GOLDEN” as it creates curiosity and increases link clicks going to your website article.
Then on your article, you can promote affiliate products related to your niche (for example, if your niche is about dogs, you can promote dog training products that you can find on Clickbank)
Wrapping Up
And that basically sums up my Facebook viral marketing strategy. This method is really effective especially if you will be able to hit the right audience with the right content, Just make sure to invest some time and effort to research and use proven content, and if ever you want to speed up your content research, you can use a software like the Viral Autobots app so you’ll be able to speed up the process to find proven viral contents in no time.
