Today I am going to do a review on Renderforest, a cloud-based application for creating a wide variety of video animations that you can use for your presentations on your online and offline businesses.
I have actually been using a similar cloud-based platform called Viddyoze, but the good thing is they really complement each other as they both provide unique templates that can be used in any video creation, though I admit, Renderforest gives a lot more choices compared to Viddyoze.
To give you a brief background about Renderforest, it is a company founded in 2014 at Yerevan, Armenia, and thru their template-based online video editing platform, they provide users the ability to create video animations, intro videos, explainer videos, as well as product or service promotional videos that can be used on any types of businesses.
From the time of Renderforest’s establishment in 2014, their user base has already grown to over 2 million as of this writing, and it does not stop there as their number is still growing with 5000 new signups being added on a daily basis.
Why Use Videos
I really don’t know if I have stressed it enough already, but videos are the marketing of the future. Even as of today, you will notice that most of the content on your Facebook newsfeeds are viral videos being shared by your friends, and you will also notice that a lot of product ads that you can see on Facebook or other social media platforms are in the form of a video.
There really is no coincidence here because videos can relay any messages a thousand times better than a still image or a plain text.
And if you’re still not using videos as part of your marketing strategy, you should really think again because you are really leaving a lot of money on the table.
If you don’t believe me, below are some interesting facts about videos that you need to know:
- Videos account for 57% of all consumer internet traffic
- Videos on your landing page can increase conversion by as much as 80%
- 8 out of 10 consumers who watched product videos are more likely to buy a product
- Explainer videos increase conversion rate by as much as 20%
So marketing in the future will definitely be about videos, but I have to remind you that these should not be ordinary videos, but videos that can stand out from the rest of the crowd – something that can really catch attention
You must also have to keep in mind that competition will be fierce as you will have to fight for viewer’s attention against others who will also target your market.
The other thing that you also need to know is that making videos from scratch is a real pain, especially if you’re just starting, learning how to properly use video editing application could really take time. And if you try outsource it, your pocket must be prepared because quality video makers do have expensive rates.
But as problem arise, there also comes a solution, and this is to use a template-based video animation software like Renderforest
Creating a video animation with Renderforest is really easy. Just follow the steps below to create one
Once you’re signed in to your account, just click the “Get Started” button to begin
The next thing you need to do is to select a template. Renderforest has a wide variety of templates to choose from, and besides that, what I like about their templates page is it’s very organized and already sorted per category. You can also sort it even further according to trend, latest, and popularity.
If you want to preview any template, just hover to the play button at the bottom right of the template or you can also click it to play the preview (see below)
You can also click the heart button to add the template to your favorites so in case you need to use the template again, you can easily find it on your Favorites
Once you selected a template, you will be directed to the template information page where you can see some details about the template. You can also preview the template here.
If you’re ready to begin, just click “Create” to proceed
Depending on the template that you choose, you will be asked to provide several details. In the template that I selected, there are a total of five steps. Just click on each steps to go back or forward and provide the necessary details of your project (see below)
Another nice thing about Renderforest is their huge collection of audio files that you can use on your video and what’s cool about this is it will only show you the available audio files that will match the length of your project.
To preview the audio, just click the play button at the left side of the audio file, and when you already found the audio that you like, just press the “plus” icon at the right side.
You can also upload your own audio if you want. Just go to the “Upload Your Voiceover” tab to do it.
Once you’re satisfied with your project, just click the last step “Preview” then click the “Preview” button
You can now wait for a few minutes while your video is rendering.
You can also go to “My Videos” to view your videos
And see if it the process is already done or not. It will also show you the estimated rendering time so you’ll know around what time the rendering will be finished
Once the render is finished, you can see several options including the “Download” and “Publish”.
And that’s actually it! You can see the sample video animation that I made for my blog WPisLife using Renderforest. Just click the link below to see for yourself
What I Like About Renderforest
Below are some of the things that I really liked about this product
Easy to Use
This is definitely one of the key selling points of Renderforest. As you can see from my software walkthrough, it only takes a few clicks to create a nice looking video animation
As we all know, video rendering is a resource intensive process and requires a high performance computer for faster rendering time. Since Renderforest is cloud-based, you don’t need to worry about this and you don’t even need a high end PC.
All the rendering process is being outsourced on their server and you can even access it on any computer as long as you have an internet connection
Wide Variety of Templates
One of the things I like about Renderforest is they have lots of templates to choose from, which covers a wide array of niches from restaurants, construction, real estate, as well as health and wellness.
Aside from that, they also release new templates on a weekly basis which basically adds more choices from the already massive collection of templates
And if you still can’t find what you’re looking for, you can actually request for a custom template as Renderforest has a team that has experience in explainer video production to do the job for you.
Built-in Video Player
This cloud-based app also comes with its own video player so you don’t actually need to host it on a third party video player like youtube. Another nice thing about this is you can share it directly to several social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter straight from the video player if you want to.
What I Don’t Like
Now for the things that I don’t like, I also listed them below. These are actually more of a “wishlist” and I hope they can consider these on their future software update
Watermarked Videos for the Free Plan
The only catch for using the free plan is that the rendered video has a Renderforest watermark on it. This is understandable anyway, but still, it would be nice if they can provide a watermark free video for the lowest video resolution
Combining Templates on the Cloud
This is something that I wish to be added on their system. Currently, it cannot combine several videos on their platform, so if you created several videos that you need to merge, you will have to use a third party video editing software to do this
Renderforest is free of charge, the only thing about the free plan is it has a watermark when you export the videos. If you want to export videos without the watermark, like for commercial use, you can still do so but you have to pay for it.
For the paid plans, you have actually 2 main options – the Subscription-Based Plan or you can also do the Pay Per Export.
For the Subscription-Based Plan, you can see below the available options
And for the Pay Per Export, you can refer to the screenshot below for the available options
The nice thing about the free plan is you still can use all the templates, and you have no editing restrictions, so you can try out everything on the free plan before you decide if you need to buy any of the paid plans
I guess that wraps up my review, and as for my parting words, I would definitely recommend Renderforest to anyone who are into using videos for their marketing campaigns as this product offers you a wide variety of video animations that you can use on your businesses.
The only thing that I can think of with their free plan is you won’t be able to use it commercially as they put watermark on the rendered videos, but if you’re going to sell your videos anyway, I guess it’s just fair enough to spend a spare change if in the end you’ll earn a lot more from it.
So if you want to try Renderforest, just click the button below. Joining is free anyway and you can try everything without any editing restrictions
