Today, I am going to do a review on SEO PowerSuite, a software that provides the necessary tools needed by online business owners in managing effective SEO promotions. The software is actually composed of four separate tools namely:
- Rank Tracker
- Website Auditor
- SEO Spyglass
- Link Assistant
We will go into each of these in a while and will show you how I use it I for my SEO needs.
About SEO PowerSuite
The software was developed by Link Assistant, an SEO company founded in 2004, though I just bought this software around mid-2015 but have use it since then, especially when I need to research for my SEO strategy when I need to rank for a certain keyword.
This software has actually been used and recommended by more than 500 thousand online business owners, SEO agencies and specialists worldwide, so there is no doubt that this software is a real deal.
Software Walkthrough
As I’ve said above, SEO PowerSuite is composed of four different tools that has a specific task related to SEO and I will show you all of this features in detail below.
Let’s start with Rank Tracker
Rank Tracker
Rank Tracker is the tool that check your keyword ranking in the search engine. This software allows scheduled ranking check, as well as running the software at a specific date. The software has also several other cool things that it can do which I will also explain in detail in a while.
Using Rank Tracker
To use the Rank Tracker, you need to create first a new project, which is actually very easy to do with the software’s built-in wizard, and to do this, just follow the steps below
Step 1. Enter the desired URL then press “Next” to proceed.
Step 2: You will be asked if you want to connect your Google Adwords and Google Analytics account. Anyway, this is only optional so you can skip this and just press “Next” again
Step 3. Here, you need to enter the keywords that you want to track, then click “Next”. Rank Tracker will actually parse your keywords from your meta description if there’s any but you have the freedom to edit it to any keywords you want to track. In this example, I’ll just use what Rank Tracker grabbed from my website
Step 4. Select your desired Search Engines, in this example, I’ll choose Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Click “Finish” when done.
And that’s actually all it need to setup Rank Tracker. You can now see the results in a table form with a progress chart below it
Things You Can Do with Rank Tracker
There are actually several things that you can do with Rank Tracker, but the main features that I really like about this software are the following:
Show Keyword Ranking Overview
The software has the Ranking Overview module which lets you glance quickly at your rank progress.
The cool thing about this is you can also add your competitors to determine their progress as well so you’ll know whether you’re actually getting ahead or behind them, and plan a move to improve your rank
Find Low Competition Keywords
The software can let you know the competition level for a certain keyword. Just click the update button, and after a while, the software will provide you the difficulty score of that keyword together with other useful metrics.
This feature is very helpful as it will provide you the needed information so you can plan ahead your SEO strategy to rank for the keyword that you desire, or if it’s too difficult, you can move on to a new one
Determine Your Search Engine Visibility
Rank Tracker can also give you an overview of how visible you are in the search engines. It will give you a percentage score of how visible you are in the internet depending on several factors that affects your search engine visibility.
Overall, I believe that Rank Tracker is an effective tool for giving you insights on how well you rank for a specific keyword. Aside from that, it’s really not that hard to use and not only that, it also provides you with accurate data if setup correctly. The software has other cool features as well, giving you additional information that you can utilize to improve your ranking.
Now that we’re done with Rank Tracker, Let’s now proceed with Website Auditor
Website Auditor
The Website Auditor is another primary application in the SEO PowerSuite software, and what it does is it analyzes any website for potential SEO issues, so that you can take action and fix the issues the software finds like broken links, duplicate and missing tags, as well as errors in the HTML or CSS codes.
Website Auditor is actually more of an On-page SEO tool as it will help you optimize your website internally so it can perform well in the search engines.
Using Website Auditor
Using Website Auditor is actually very easy to use, and is actually the easiest among the 4 software tools included in the SEO PowerSuite, as a matter of fact, all you need to do is to enter your desired website URL and tweak some options then this software will do the hard work for you.
Just follow the steps below so you won’t get lost in the process
Step 1: Enter your website URL under “Create New Website Optimization Project”, make sure to tick the checkbox “Expert options” then press the “Next” button
Step 2: After that, you will need to specify the crawler settings. There are several options here to tweak though I didn’t mess around with it and just stuck with the default settings except for the following:
Under “Advanced Options”, I unchecked “Crawl password protected sites” because it was checked by default and there’s really no need for this.
Once done, just click the “Finish” button
Website Auditor will start to analyze your website. It might take a while for the process to finish depending on the size of your website. In my case, it took around 20-30 minutes before the process was finished.
Once the analysis is complete, it will show you a list of URLs of your website and some useful stats such as:
- Click Depth
- Links to Page
- Links from Page
- Word Count
- Tags
When you’re already here, you will also notice several tabs which can show you website data such as:
- On-page
- Open graph and structured data markup
- Links and technical factors
- inLink Rank
- Social media
- Traffic coming to pages
You can go to each tabs and click “Update Pages” to update the data that were not processed during the initial analysis.
You can also add new tab by clicking the plus sign found beside the rightmost tab, then choose which data you want to add that is not included in the initial.
The Audit Report
This is actually the ultimate piece that Website Auditor will give you a detailed audit report that includes the following:
- Indexing and crawlability
- Redirects
- Encoding and technical factors
- URLs
- Link statistics
- Image statistics
- On-page statistics
You can see that the report is very detailed and will give you all the necessary information if there are any issues that the software has found.

Content Analysis
Aside from the Audit Report, Website Auditor can also analyze how your content is optimized for certain keywords. This is actually very helpful so you can prevent the occurrence of keyword stuffing which can actually affect your ranking in a search engine, especially Google!
To give you an example, below is the result of the analysis of one of my published post. You can see that the article is only 66.5% optimized for the specified keywords, and the nice thing is that Website Auditor has identified several factors that I can tweak to improve my optimization grade.
All in all, I believe that Website Auditor is a great tool that can be used specifically for On-page SEO. In just a few clicks of a button, the software will be able to identify website issues that have the potential to affect your search engine ranking (if any), so you can take action and correct those, which could ultimately improve your website’s performance in search engines.
We’re now halfway the software walkthrough. Let’s now take a look on SEO Spyglass
SEO Spyglass
SEO Spyglass is the third tool in SEO PowerSuite software. Spyglass is the tool that let’s you dig deep into the search engine and discover links pointing into any website. This serves actually two main purpose which are:
- Determine the links pointing to your website, and find out if there are links that could pose potential harm to your website, so you can take action and rectify it
- Research backlinks of your competitors so you can have idea on where to put your links in your next link building campaign
Out of the four primary tools in SEO PowerSuite, Spyglass is actually the one that I use the most, this is because I do a lot of competitor research and I want to have an idea on how they build their links, the sites they’re linking in, and the anchor text variation they use to rank for certain keywords.
Using SEO Spyglass
Creating a backlink research project with this tool is not that hard to do. Just follow the steps below to get you started
Step 1: Just enter the website URL that you want to analyze, make sure to tick the “Enable expert options” then press “Next”
Step 2: In this step, you need to choose the backlink sources that you want to use. You actually have 3 sources here which includes the following:
- SEO Powersuite Link Explorer
- Google Analytics
- Google Search Console
You can select all but you need to provide the log in details if you want to use Google Analytics or the Search Console. In this example, I just used the SEO Powersuite Link Explorer
Press “Next” once you’ve finished choosing your sources
Step 3. Here, you would want to configure how the backlinks will be collected. I did not change anything here though I can uncheck the “Limit backlinks from one domain” if I want to collect all the links from one site. Press “Finish” when you’re done
Once the software has processed all the backlinks, it will be presented in a neat table with all the corresponding important backlink data found by the software.
you will be given an option to further scrutinize the backlink data. Here you might want to click the “Update” icon for the following to extract more information about the backlinks such as:
- Inlink Rank
- Link Penalty Risk
- Traffic
- Or update all Backlinks
That is basically how you do backlink research using SEO Spyglass. The tool also has several of ways to sort your data, so you might want to play around with it to get yourself the hang of it.
You can also click on the several tabs to check several stats such as:
- Domain info
- Keywords
- Anchor text
- anchor URL
- IP address
- And many more
Another nice thing about this tool is that you can export a detailed and neat report that you can customize like the one I did below
The cool thing about these reports is that these are highly customizable, so you can add some personal touch to it depending on what you or your clients want to see.
Things You Can do With SEO Spyglass
This tool is all about backlink research, and below I listed the three main uses of SEO Spyglass for researching backlinks:
Backlink Profile Analysis
This is mainly done in order to know the links that are pointing to you or your client’s website. The nice thing about this is the software gives you a qualitative score regarding the Risk Penalty of each of the backlinks so you’ll have an idea whether a link is actually being harmful to your website.
It will also provide you the percentage of each anchor text that you used, so you can determine if you have an over optimized anchor text and rectify it if there’s any to avoid google penalty for anchor text over optimization.
Competitor Backlink Research
If you used the tool to research for backlinks of your competitors, it will provide you a clear insight on the number of backlinks that your competitor has, and these backlinks that the software found actually opens the door for new link building opportunity as you can try to replicate what your competitor did and use the same link building technique for ranking target keyword
With this information in your hand, what you just need to do now is to plan for your own link building campaign and try to get these backlinks as well so you can rank for your target keyword in no time.
Over all, I really believe that SEO Spyglass is a great tool that can provide you an in-depth backlink research for your website, as well as competitors, that you can utilize to further improve your search engine rankings.
Moreover, unlike several other online tools for competitive research that costs hundreds of dollars per month, SEO Spyglass can provide you the same data in a cost effective manner, as you only have to pay for the software once, and an additional minimal amount just case you need an updated search algorithm.
Now we’re done with the three tools, and down to the last one, which is the Link Assistant
Link Assistant
In this example, I chose “Guest Posting” as this is one of the effective link building techniques to date. Click “Next” when you’re done
Step 3: Enter Keywords
Here, you just need to enter the keywords that are relevant to the guest post that you want to write. For the search engine, you can choose from Google, Bing, or Yahoo. You can also add custom search engines if you want but for this example, I’ll just choose Google (US).
Click the “Next” button once you’re done
Step 4: Assign Status and Tags
Here, just select the status and tags for this project. I did not bother to change the default as this is the first time and I think the status “Send Link Request Mail” is just right. You can actually customize and add new statuses if you want by clicking the flag icon at the right side.
For the tags, just add relevant tags as this will help you filter your projects especially if you already have a lot of projects
Check the box beside “Enable expert options” and press “Next” once you’re done.
Step 5: Configure Additional Information
This additional step will pop out if you checked “Enable expert options”. There’s actually nothing I need to change here so I just used the defaults but you can play with the settings by checking/unchecking the boxes beside the options.
Press “Finish” once you’re done with your configuration
Link Assistant will then start looking for websites related to your keyword, and once finished, you will start to see the list of all potential link partners along with their email addresses (refer to image below)
We now have a list of potential partners, and what we need to do next is to check the website quality. To do this, just go to the “Prospect quality” tab, and once there, you can also add more metrics from what’s already there by editing the workspace and checking additional metrics such as the following:
- InLink Rank
- Domain InLink Rank
- Page Authority
- Domain Authority
- Domain Yandex CY
- Backlink Value
Once you have added all the metrics you need, just hit “Ok” then select all the prospect websites (CTRL+A) then press the “Update” Icon . After the process is finished, you can now see all the updated metrics of your potential link partners and sort it according to authority.
Now What?
Now that you already have the list of potential link partners, here comes the more tedious part, because the next thing you would want to do is email your list (also called blog/website outreach) to inform them that you want to get a link from their website thru guest posting or something like that.
You can actually do this inside Link Assistant itself, and the software also comes with some premade email templates that you can use, though I really recommend that you personalize each email for each webmasters, as you’ll have a better chance that you’ll get a reply from them, that could build a relationship, and with this, it can then lead to getting mentioned on their site to ultimately get that most coveted link.
This is really a tedious task, and I think there really is no shortcuts here as you are really going to build relationships with other webmasters, and building good relationships do take a lot of time.
Overall, I believe that Link Assistant is a great tool that can help you find link building opportunities in your niche. Trying to Look for these opportunities will actually take you a lot of time if you do it manually, but with this software, you can get thousands of potential link building opportunities in just a matter of minutes.
Just bear in mind that the software cannot help you in acquiring the links automatically as you still have to do the outreaching campaign yourself, and you actually have to do it manually, for you to have a better chance of link acquisition, but don’t you worry because the fruit of your labor will be very rewarding.
What I Like About SEO PowerSuite
Wow! That was a long detailed software walkthrough! As of this point, we already know that this software really has a lot of things that it can do to make your SEO-related tasks a bit easier, and below, I will list down a few more things about the things that I like about this software
Easy To Use
What I like about this software is its ease of use. You might be overwhelmed with some of the settings when you’re just getting started, but it’s really not that hard to use, and besides, there are already lots of tutorials that you can find online which can help you in using this software, including my detailed walkthrough on my SEO PowerSuite Review.
Does A Lot of Things
From On-page SEO, to Off-page SEO, to competitor research, you name it and this software has it. I really believe there is no other software more complete than this one, as this is really an all-in-one SEO tool
Less Expensive Compared to Other SEO tools
What this software can do is really not new and there are actually other apps including some cloud-based software that can do the same thing, but the problem is you have to subscribe to them individually, and the price is really not cheap, and for some, you even have to pay on a monthly basis.
What really separates SEO PowerSuite from the rest is its price, as you only have to pay once for the software, and it’s all yours. Though the software also has monthly algorithm update that you have to pay, its actually not mandatory, and you can just update whenever you need it. This is actually what I’m currently doing as I am really not a heavy user of the software, and there are months when I do not use it at all.
Option to Purchase Tools Individually
Another nice thing about SEO PowerSuite is you have an option to purchase the 4 tools individually. This is advantageous if you don’t need everything, like if you just need the Website Auditor, you can still get it without the need to purchase the other tools

What I Don’t Like About This Software
I actually tried to find something that I didn’t like about this but failed to find any. The only thing missing for this software I guess is the ability to access it on the cloud, which I think will be a great additional feature, but even without it, I really believe that this software is badass!
Pricing
SEO Powersuite actually comes with two options – the Professional and the Enterprise. For Professional, the software costs $299 while the Enterprise costs $699.
The difference between the two options is with the Enterprise, it will allow you to use it on your clients as you can generate whitelabel reports with the Enterprise, unlike with Professional, which you can only use personally and its watermarked with the SEO PowerSuite Logo.

And that wraps up my review. SEO PowerSuite is a great software that can really make your SEO life a bit easier. I believe I have already tackled on most of the important things about this software which can help you decide whether SEO PowerSuite is for you.
