Another week has passed and I made another plugin, but again, it’s not the social sharing plugin that I have told you that I will be building on the first week of this journey, and to tell you the truth, I was really out of focus the whole week and I haven’t really touched the social sharing plugin all week long! Anyway, what actually happened is that this week, I was kind of thinking of a plugin that I will be able to use to promote something on my blog, and the idea that came out is a bar that sticks at the top of the screen browser. This way, the advertisement will not gonna be annoying like a pop up and it will just stay at the top of your screen, and since it’s going to be positioned at the top of the screen, it can definitely grab the attention of the reader. The idea is actually not a new one and there are already several sticky headers, both free and premium, but the nice thing about this is that I created it so I know what’s happening with the plugin.
So I call this plugin the “Sticky Bar”, and what it does is it makes a sticky header bar on your website, and even if the reader scrolls down, the bar does not move and stay positioned at the top, that’s why I called it Sticky Bar, brilliant isn’t it? 🙂 And the nice thing about this plugin is you can put a text link on the sticky bar, so if the reader finds the text link interesting, there is a big probability that the reader will click on that link, thus completing the purpose of this plugin.
How To Use the Plugin
The plugin is very easy to use, once you installed the plugin, there is a global setting where you just need to choose the color of the sticky bar and the text link, and once finished, just click “Save Settings”
After that, just create a normal post, and when you’re already at the create post area, just scroll down and you will see the “Sticky Bar” metabox
In the metabox, just choose “Yes” from the drop down box if you want to use the Sticky Bar, then enter the text and the link that you’re going to promote. Make sure to include “http://” in the link that you’re going to promote.
After that, just save your post normally and that’s it! when you try to view your post, the Sticky Bar will be shown at the top of your screen
and it works on mobiles too!
The plugin is already working with no bugs as far as I know, though this only works on posts and not on pages, but I think this will still be able to serve its purpose on my blog, however, there is one thing that I would like this plugin to do, and that is to push the content down so that the sticky bar will not be blocking the title header of my blog, because as of now, the sticky bar is blocking the majority of my header bar and so far, I still can’t find the way to push all the contents down, so if someone knows how to do it, just let me know
Me Being Generous!
I was actually planning to sell this plugin but screw it! I’ll just give it away for free to anyone who wants to use it on their blog. Just click the link below and enter your name and email so I know where to deliver the plugin. That’s all for the mean time and enjoy your Sticky Bar plugin!
